From practice: transporting fish by plane

One of Coolpack’s customers is a wholesaler of fresh fish near Den Helder. They came into contact with a potential customer in Las Vegas: a 3-star restaurant that has a preference for fish from the North Sea. Together with our client, we looked at how we could get the fresh fish from the Netherlands to Las Vegas in a good way, while maintaining quality.

A special refrigerated solution for fish transport

We came up with the solution together to combine gel packs with an EPS box. EPS boxes have insulating properties and keep the goods dry, cooled and safe. Combined with gel packs, the fish can stay chilled and fresh longer. This is important because too high temperatures or too much slush can lead to accelerated product spoilage. Capturing the melt water is done by our absorption mats. These absorption mats catch up to 4 liters of condensation. This allows you to transport the fish fresh without sacrificing quality.

By now, fish goes to Las Vegas weekly by plane together with Coolpack gel packs. In addition to air transport, the gel packs are now used to transport fish fresh within the Netherlands and to surrounding European countries. After all, customers want superior quality fish and this can be done this way.
