Cooling and absorption
Our customers in the flower industry typically choose the Original 200-gram gel packs because they provide the proper cooling capacity for cut flowers. These are often used in conjunction with absorption mats, to immediately collect condensation released during transport. You can also choose No sweat gel packs. These feature a non-woven absorbent outer layer, keeping your flowers dry during transport.

Considerations when transporting cut flowers dry
- Cool the flowers. After cutting off the stem, the natural metabolism of the flower stops. To keep them beautiful for as long as possible, you should cool them as soon as possible. For this, you can use gel packs.
- Ensure proper humidity. When the flowers are exposed to too much moisture, fungal growth such as botrytis can occur. Also, the flowers can then contract diseases. On the other hand, conditions that are too dry can also be disastrous. With absorption mats you capture moisture during transport.
- Keep the flowers at temperature. To cool cut flowers during long transports, we recommend the use of insulating packing boxes such as EPS boxes or the EcoCoolBox in combination with gel packs.
